HydroResolutions Personnel
HydroResolutions, LLC was founded in 2008 by David A. Chace and Randall M. Roberts. The HydroResolutions team currently includes Michael D. Fort.
David A. Chace graduated from Tarleton State University in Stephenville, Texas with a B.S. in Hydrology and Water Resources in 1990 and from New Mexico Institute of Mining and Technology with an M.S. in Hydrology in 1993.
Randall M. Roberts graduated from North Dakota State University with a B.S. in Geology in 1986 and from New Mexico Institute of Mining and Technology with an M.S. in Hydrology in 1990.
Michael D. Fort graduated from New Mexico Institute of Mining and Technology with a B.S. in Engineering Science and from New Mexico Institute of Mining and Technology with an M.S. in Hydrology in 1992.
The HydroResolutions team has more than 90 years of experience performing and analyzing aquifer tests and hydrogeologic characterization in all types of subsurface formations and conditions. The three principals (Chace, Roberts, and Fort) began their careers in the environmental industry, spending a combined 27 years in that field. Mr. Chace and Mr. Roberts went on to work as Senior Members of the Technical Staff for Sandia National Laboratories prior to forming HydroResolutions, LLC, and Mr. Fort worked as the Associate Director of IRIS/PASSCAL instrument Center (Socorro, NM) prior to joining.
The HydroResolutions team members have performed hydrogeologic characterization and aquifer testing activities in the United States, Canada, Europe, and Asia. These aquifer testing activities include pumping tests (constant rate and constant head), slug tests (pneumatic and conventional), pulse tests, DSTs, and lugeon tests. This experience has allowed them to perform and analyze tests in an extensive variety of complex hydrogeologic formations involving complicated subsurface conditions.
The members of HydroResolutions, LLC have developed both tools (hardware and software) and techniques that allow HydroResolutions to obtain hydrogeologic information that is not available through the standard methods generally applied in the environmental consulting industry. Some of the tools that have been developed by HydroResolutions include:
- Mobile Integrated Aquifer Testing and Analysis (MIATA) platforms that allow HydroResolutions to go anywhere in the world with relatively short notice to conduct both general and very specialized aquifer tests. The MIATA platforms incorporate in-house developed data acquisition and control systems (DACS) that are specifically tailored to the individual projects and allow complete control of down-hole instrumentation and equipment, real-time data analysis, and allow the data to be monitored remotely from anywhere in the world.
- Data Acquisition and Control Systems (DACS) have been developed and are used in conjunction with the MIATA platforms to collect all of the appropriate data generated as part of hydraulic tests. The DACS is also capable of providing control of both flow and pressure using appropriate instrumentation.
- n-Dimensional Statistical Inverse Graphical Hydraulic Test Simulator (nSIGHTS) is a numerical well test simulator developed in collaboration with Geofirma Engineering, Ltd and Sandia National Laboratories that allow us to analyze aquifer tests and quantify the uncertainty on hydraulic parameter estimates associated with complex (heterogeneous) hydrogeologic systems where flow is often non-radial.
